For ease of reference the bibliography has been broken down into:

• General: relating to publications taking a holistic view of English dialect.

• Yorkshire: wherein material relates to Yorkshire dialect as a whole.

• East, West and North Ridings: containing publications dealing specifically with the individual Ridings.

• Audio and Video: listing details of available recordings on vinyl disc, cassette and video.
